For more than 50 years, a tree has appeared on the West lawn of the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C. during the holiday season to help celebrate the spirit of the Christmas and the great outdoors. The U.S. Forest Service in partnership with Choose Outdoors are proud to bring this special gift from the Kootenai National Forest in Montana to Washington D.C. for the 2017 holiday season.

The U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree program would not be possible without the generous support of local and national partners. We invite you to take part in telling the story of the Kootenai, the great state of Montana, and the tree’s journey to the U.S. Capitol in 2017.
