“Canyon Christmas” Honorable Mention, 2009 US Capitol Christmas Tree Juried Art Exhibit

The United States Capitol has been presenting one of the most beautiful Christmas trees in its west front lawn for decades and as Christmas draws near we watch and enjoy all the decor and festivities each and every day. People all around the country find interest in just about everything with the season. One of these things is the U. S. Capitol Christmas tree. Some of them are waiting just to adore but others look to find new ideas for their own Christmas tree from the artistic decoration of the Capitol Christmas tree. This is one reason the art contest is arranged each year. In this contest all artists have been invited to participate and contribute their own works.

Several schools and other civic organizations have also taken part in the decoration of the tree. The kids of these schools have provided many paintings ornaments and other decor with a Christmas theme. This tree is famous for its unique decoration and beauty. So, there is the great US Capitol Christmas Tree ornament collection always in order to decorate the tree with beautiful ornamentation. Moreover, these armature artists are asked to produce their work on recyclable and reusable products to help preserve the environment.

This year, the state of California has been chosen to produce the 60 foot Christmas tree that will be decorated based on the theme of “California Shines”. The art and ornaments for this years tree will be toured through California followed by a tour of the USA until it reaches Washington DC where it will be placed with past art works related to Capitol Christmas trees.

Another award will also be given to the artist who’s work will be admired most by the public and for the most views. So, he or she will be awarded with the award “Viewer’s Choice”. ”Holiday cards” awards will also be given to some of the other artists. So, the art competition for the Capitol Christmas tree will definitely produce many wonderful art pieces. Throughout California, the search of artists is on. They are working day and night in order to receive the best artwork to grant the award. This event will definitely give them a chance to show their abilities that otherwise may have been hidden from the eye of the public. This contest can help bring their artistic abilities in front of not only public but also of the Media for all to see and enjoy.
