November 16 2010, Day 7

9:00am – 11:30am National Historic Trails Center at 1501 North Poplar Street, Casper WY

Mark your calendar for Tuesday, Nov. 16! The Capitol Christmas Tree is visiting Casper, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at the National Historic Trails Interpretive Center (NHTIC), 1501 North Poplar. The theme of the 2010 Capitol Christmas Tree is “Wyoming – Forever West.”

This is the first time Wyoming has been the source of the Capitol Christmas Tree. Thousands of ornaments made by Wyoming school children will decorate the tree as it occupies a place of honor in Washington, D.C. . The last visit to Casper by a Capitol Christmas Tree was in 2002.

Wyoming volunteers have donated more than 50,000 hours to planning, transporting, and creating decorations for the 2010 Capitol Christmas Tree.

Everyone is invited to view the tree at the NHTIC, and sign banners that will accompany the tree on its 18-day, 4,000-mile national tour enroute to the nation’s capital. Entrance to the Trails Center will be free during the tree’s visit. Sam’s Club will provide refreshments, and the morning will include seasonal music and appearances by special guest dignitaries.

Mementos will be offered for sale by the nonprofit Grand Teton Association, including coffee mugs, patches, pins, shirts, and tote bags, all sporting the Capitol Christmas Tree 2010 logo. Proceeds go to support the tree’s journey

November 17 2010, Day 8

11:00am – 2:30pm by the Cheyenne Depot Museum at 121 West 15th Street, Cheyenne WY

CHEYENNE – The U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree will be on display at the Cheyenne Depot Plaza on Wednesday, November 17 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
This is the first time the U.S. Capitol tree has come from Wyoming.
The 83-year-old Englemann Spruce tree comes from the Bridger-Teton National Forest near Jackson, Wyo. It stands 67 feet tall. Once in Washington, D.C., the tree will be located on the west front lawn of the U.S. Capitol. The tree will be strung with lights and decorated with nearly 5,000 ornaments made by Wyomingites.
During the tree’s visit to Cheyenne, the tree will be greeted by Mayor Rick Kaysen, the All-City Children’s Chorus will perform, and Bryan Raggsdale will sing “Cowboy Christmas Tree” which is the official tree song of the 2010 U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree. Source
3:00pm – 7:00am 1 FE Warren Air Force Base, Cheyenne WY

2010 Capitol Christmas Tree will spend the night at the Warren Air Force Base. In 2006 the Capitol Christmas Tree spent the night spent the night here on the way to the U. S. Capitol.

November 18 2010, Day 9

8:30am – 10:00am Court House at 852 South Street, Wheatland WY

Platte County residents will can visit with The 2010 Capitol Christmas Tree. The tree will have a police escort. Followed with a parade that will set up on Park Ave and go to the court house with the Pony Express. We have heard that any riders on horse or in a horse drawn buggy may be welcome to join the parade.

The local V.F.W. Auxiliary will be serving hot drinks and cookies for all who attend this event which will also act as a reminder of the Platte County celebration of their centennial in 2011.

While the tree is on display at the courthouse, people will be able to gather around in the courthouse lawn. Speaches will be made and some Christmas singing by the Libbey Elementry School children.


11:00am – 1:00pm Hank’s Hardware at 1120 East Richards Road, Douglas WY

The Tree will arrive in Douglas and spend one and a half hours at the Hardware Hank Parking Lot.

Activities include: Douglas High School Jazz Band and the Sunny Singers performing. Cookies donated by Clementine’s Cattle Company, Cocoa and Coffee donated by by Hardware Hank.

Route of the tree: Traveling from Wheatland, the National Tree will come off Exit 135 to E. Richards Street, and park at the Douglas Hardware Hank parking lot from approximately 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Leaving the parking lot at approximately 1 p.m., the “Tree Parade” will continue down Richards Street to Brownfield Road, make a right-hand turn, proceed down Brownfield Road to W. Yellowstone, make a left turn in the direction of the bridge; pass the Senior Center and travel over the North Platte River Bridge, pass the Intermediate School, turn right onto WY 59 toward Gillette. November 19 2010, Day 10

8:15am – 9:45am between 2nd and 3rd streets on Main Street in Sundance WY

We hear the Crook County Museum Foundation is selling sweatshirts for the Capitol Christmas Tree Tour

Day 10 November 19 2010 on to the Route of the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree Tour Across the Country in South Dakota.
