The U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree Lighting is Tonight 5pm E.T.

The tradition began in 1964 - Performed today in 2010 U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi along with Daniel Sitter, a sixth grade student from Wyoming will light the tree at 5 pm eastern time.

The Music will be performed by the U.S. Navy Band

Others from the Wyoming congressional delegation, Sens. Michael Enzi and John Barrasso, and Wyoming Governor will be at the lighting ceremony tonight, Tuesday evening.

The Wyoming grown 67-foot tall spruce has been decorated with over 5,000 ornaments made by Wyoming school children.

planning to go? You will not be able to park near the Capitol due to restrictions. It will be easiest to ride the Metro to either Federal Center South West, Union Station or Capitol South.

To see the tree live with the lights on you can visit any time from today until January first 2010. The tree will be lit each day from dusk until 11 pm.
